Believe in yourself!

I ran around to all four Walmarts and a Target store today looking for shelving for my closet.  Probably stacking wire racks or baskets would be good to ripen fruit.  Had a taco and a tostado from Taco Bell.   Mmmmmm...  my Favorite!  Kinda hot today.  Came home and made dad and I root beer floats.  Very refreshing.  Later we shared a can of Campbell's beef soup.  Joined online www.MyFitnessPal.com  Invited Cinnamon, and turns out she has already been on it for a month.  So far, I am waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy over my daily calories.  This could be a hint why I keep gaining weight.  lol  So, keeping track of the food and calories.  With Cinnamon on my side, I feel positive this is a step in the right direction.  My water filters from HSN came in today.  Tomorrow, I will try and install them.  Ugh.  wish me luck!  I'll try and do it while dad is at exercise.  Everything is easier to do when he is not underfoot.  Can't believe this is the last day of July.  Time just keeps flying by.  Tomorrow is August 1st.  Would be mom and dad's 64th wedding anniversary.  Sigh.

Your star shines bright!

This morning dad and I met Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel for breakfast at Zorn's Restaurant in Pleasanton.  Lots of fun.

One smile can make everything better. Especially your smile.

Dad and I are going to the movies this morning and see the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises".  This is the one that had the mass killing at the first midnight showing in Aurora, Colorado a week ago.  It is 2 hours and 45 minutes.  Hope dads back will be okay.  I told him to get up and walk around a little.  He says he will be okay.  Sure hope so.  Learned from Bev Mendes that dad's cousin Louis Buserwini has been sick and was in the hospital.  They have sold his house and he is living with his son.  His girlfriend Connie Johnson, who lives on our street, has early stage of alzheimers and woke up one night and didn't know where she was, so....  she has now moved in with her daughter and they have put her house up for sell.  I wonder what I am going to do when I get that old and cannot live alone any more.  Sure HATE the idea of living in a facility.  Getting old is so scary.  Better enjoy this youth thing while I have it.  lol

Dad and I took Luigi across the street to the park this afternoon and practiced "heel" with him.  For the first time outdoors, he was doing pretty good.  Then of course we played Fetch.  That little guy Loves to Play Fetch.

First, You Have To Ask Yourself, What Is It That You Would Most Like To Do In The World - And Then - You Have To Do It!

Luigi, Lindaellen, Ray, Susan, Tony

Fun Day Yesterday Tony and Susan.

Quote:
"Today may there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where
you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are
born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have
received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be
content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into
your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and
love. It is there for each and every one of us."

You're destined to succeed!

My adorable nephew Tony and his beautiful wife Susan took dad and I out for breakfast this morning to Denny's.  Then they came back to the house and we all visited.  We had such a great time.  I wish all the family lived close together again like we use to.  Being with family is always the most fun.

"The Healthier You Are - the More the People You Care About Will Follow You"

Go To Health.  So much easier said than done.  I have been obsessed reading about eating naturally, fruits and vegetables.  But, I am finding that it is not satisfying enough for me.  Need to keep experimenting to find what combination works best for me.  I would like to be a good example.  It's so much easier to preach to someone else to be healthy, than to take the steps to do it for yourself.  Lesson to Self:  Take Responsibility for Your Own Health.  Note Taken.
(Maybe)  :-)

Dad and I had a fun lunch with Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel at Shari's Restaurant for lunch in Castro Valley today.  Keeping very busy, but enjoying nice, relaxing days.

You make people happy.

Luigi is so funny.  He is making me laugh.  We had so much fun with him at the Dog Show, we are thinking of working with him and his obsessed focusing on his ball, and possibly doing tricks with him again next year at the Dog Show.  We still think if we could have kept his focus, he was the coolest dog there.  (We may be "slightly" biased).  :-))  This morning Uncle Joe has a doctor's appointment, and then dad and I are meeting Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel at Country Waffles in Dublin.  Yesterday, I bought Lots of Produce.  Great week for produce.  Possibly the best week of the year.  Looks like all of the harvests are in.  Also, prices are super low.  I have been spending an inordinate amount of time watching the YouTube videos of The Raw Food World.  Kind of like the idea of eating raw foods.  Also, ordered a water filter from HSN last night - their Special of the Day.  Of course, I like to read about being healthy much more than taking the time to BE Healthy.  Why does my computer Always keep erasing while I'm typing.  It drives me CRAZY.  I need to take the time and see if I can fix this glitch.  We took dad for a haircut today.  I received my extended battery and charger for my cell phone.  Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa  Also, picked up my new sheets from J.C. Penney.

One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself - Lucille Ball

Add determination to a dream and you get destiny!

Dad and I are going to the Newark 7 Cinedome at Newpark Mall this morning and see "What to Expect When You Are Expecting", with Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez.  Looks like this theater has the older movies that we have missed along the way.  Pretty cool.  Hey, this is a cool discount theater.  Tickets are only $2 and on Monday and Tuesday they are only $1!  Looks like we will be coming back.

Want to "adopt" a soldier?  At www.AnySoldier.com you can scroll through specific requests posted by troops in Afghanistan.

Today Bill, Sadie, Dad, Luigi and I are going to the Niles Dog Show.  Luigi is signed up for the Dog Tricks.

Aaahh, my little Luigi had such a fun day at the Niles Dog Show, but.... when it came time for him to do his dog tricks - I took off his leash - and he went running to dad who had his "Ball".  As we all know, the "Ball" is KING in Luigi's life.  I ran and brought him back, put him down - and OFF HE RAN B A C K to his Ball.  He did stop long enough to do Sit, High Five, and Bang - but, the lure of the Ball was too Great.  We had lots of fun.  Hope to go back to the Dog Show next year, but we'll just go and enjoy the show.

One positive thought can set a whole new future in motion.

Dad and Bill go to exercise this morning.  Then dad and I are having lunch with Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel at Sizzlers today.  Doctor said Auntie Isabel needs to wait three more weeks to have stitches removed from her head.  Healing a little slowly.  But she is doing well.

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Your great future is waiting for you.

Gave Luigi a shower this morning.  Then dad, Luigi and I went to Lenscrafter  at Stoneridge in Pleasanton to get a different eye glass frame.  I forgot to put Luigi's collar back on after the shower so we stopped at the pet store and bought him a collar.  Not sure I want to keep this new frame.  First gal was SO helpful and we were doing great.  Then this guy came over and told her that she is the Eye Doctor and that she can not help out on the floor.  Then he was absolutely no help at all.  Must be a reason, so I just left.  Not sure what my next step will be.  We had lunch at the McDonald's drive-thru .

Things go your way.

First thing this morning, I went online to Amazon, and ordered the extended battery for my cell phone.  Have really been enjoying all the YouTube videos on the Raw Food Diet and would like to view them on my cell phone when I'm out of the house.  Went to the movies this morning and saw the animated film "Ice Age:  Continental Drift".  Then went to Lenscrafters at New Park Mall.  They changed my nosepads from plastic to silicone.  What a relief!  I was having an allergic reaction to the plastic and that is why the bridge of my nose was burning and irritated.  Bought rum nougat candies from See's.  Then swung by Taco Uruapan across the street, and brought home four $1 Tuesday Tacos for dad and I.  After almost six years, I have finally decided to just relax, and enjoy this cushy life.  It won't last forever.  I was anxious to get out and about and enjoy, but since I'm sort of a prisoner here, it's best to just kick back and enjoy the simplicity of it all.  Simply boring.  Hahaha  Thank goodness for computers.  Always something new and interesting.

Luigi had so much energy tonight, dad and I took him to the park across the street and played fetch with his "chuck-it".  We thought we had tired him out, but as soon as we got home, he wanted to play fetch with his ball.  He finally just settled down.  Whew!

You make the world a more beautiful place just by being you!

Today dad and I went over to Uncle Joe's and Auntie Isabel's for a while and then we all had lunch at Denny's.  Poor Auntie Isabel is struggling a bit right now.  She gets her stitches removed from her head Thursday, but today she has a headache, neckache, backache; and her new $500 contact lense is too large and really hurting.  Still she wanted to get together and go out for lunch.  She really is Amazing.  Bill Mack is upset with Clark's Pest Control and cancelled his contract.  I'm pretty sure we will too.  I think I have found a new company on Yelp that has all five star reviews that we may try.  Luigi got his six-month bordatella booster shot this morning.

Hope works. Believe!

Dad and I are going to the movies this morning and see "The Amazing Spider-Man".  This morning, I finally got my old cell phone deregistered and my new cell phone registered for my Kindle App.  Although, it looks like I had actually already done that and just did not have the name changed.  Because I have been using Kindle on my new cell phone.  I know.  I confuse myself.  But now I know that it is completely up-to-date.  Big Sigh.  lol  Also, I am trying to get things settled with Google.Adsense.  Somehow (don't ask me how - I do not know) I have been earning money with this simple little blog.  Yes, Really!  Trying to get my bank account set up with them has been a bit more trying.  Seems I didn't have my name exactly the same as on my bank account.  Close - but not exact.  But, it is pretty cool and a nice surprise.  I love happy surprises!  Yes, Luigi is cuddling with me.  He is so precious.  I love when he cuddles with me, because most of the time - he wants to run and jump and fetch his ball.  He's pretty obsessed.  He is a very active little dog.  He keeps us laughing and on-the-go all of the time.

Brendon and Tacy McCoy

Look at this cute picture that Brendon and Tacy just posted to Facebook.  They are so cute.  Young and in love.  Which reminds me - I should learn how to use the camera on my new cell phone.  It has 2D and 3D. Whew!  It's fun to learn all these new things, but it does take time.

I Have Fun All Day

Nice, easy day.  Spent some time with "Professor Teaches" Windows 7.  Bought this probably two years ago.  HaHa  Still I enjoy learning new things.  Made bacon and eggs for Brunch around noon.  Had a nice nap.  Have I mentioned I nap almost every single day.  Honestly, one, two, three hours naps.  I Love It!  Then I popped a frozen pizza in the oven for dinner.  Yes, Yes... I keep saying that I am going to start eating a healthier diet.  And I Always say Starting Today!  Hmmmm  But, I still do mean it.  Not sure why I'm resisting, because, of course, I will feel So Much Better and Healthier.  Guess I'll have to start using my Self-hypnosis again and get myself motivated.  It's just so Easy being lazy and bad.  BUT - if I ever started - it would just become a nice easy routine and wouldl become easier.  Start, Linda, Start!

My new glasses came in from Lenscrafter tonight.  I like them, but have to get used to them.  They are giving me a headache.  Hopefully, the adjustment period will be quick.

Bill and Carli brought over Carlos' little 1 1/2 year old boy Nicco tonight.  Carlis girlfriend came too, and we had Luigi do all of his tricks that I "Hope" to do Saturday at the Niles Dog Show.  Tonight Luigi did everything Perfect.  Cross fingers for Saturday.

You are amazing.

Cleaning ladies are coming this morning and dad and I will go over to the coffee table in the dining room at the clubhouse.  Greg and Lex are coming back today to work on repairing a couple minor areas in our kitchen and bathroom floors.  Of course, it's Thursday, so we should be having lunch with Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel.

Poor Auntie Isabel fell outside of Walgreens a couple of days ago and had two stitches in the back of her head.  She is pretty darn tough for 93.  Dad and I spent a couple of hours at their apartment today, and then we all went out to lunch at Jack-in-the-Box.  Had a great time.  She looks Amazing.

This day is filled with small joys just waiting to be noticed.

Nice day.  Dad went to exercise and I gots lots of little projects completed.  Warm and beautiful.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Relax.

Wish I knew how to crop and enlarge this photo that Auntie Isabel found of her and me from somewhere in the early seventies.  I never have any large blocks of time to learn to do these things.  I'm always getting pulled in a thousand different directions.  Today I went to the movies and saw "Magic Mike" with Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaghy.

Had lots of fun at yesterdays Family Lunch at Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant in Castro Valley.  They kept adding tables as the family kept arriving.  Then they moved us into the Banquet Room.  They made everything easy and FUN!  Had a wonderful day.  The family is always fun.  Don Jose's made it especially fun, because there were no issues.  Fast, helpful, easy service and, of course, Delicious Food!

Life is a menu with unlimited choices!

Today is Cousins Family Luncheon Day.  We are meeting at Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant in Castro Village.  Last night, went online to Amazon and ordered the 30-Second Smile, which I believe is the same as the Hydrabrush, but it cost half as much.  Cross fingers.  Smile.

Good Family turnout.  Dad and I, Gordon, Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel, Debbie, Kim, Landon, Annie, Lisa, Kenny, Bobby, Elizabeth, Jessica, and Deaunn.  So, that is 15 of us.

It's a brand-new day!

This morning dad and I are going to the movies and see "Ted" at the 10:30am showing.  At 2:10pm I have an eye exam appointment at Kaiser.  Yesterday, my glasses broke.  I ran over to Walmart and had them fixed.  The guy said that the frames are about shot and the glasses could break again at any moment.  NOT comforting.  I have worn these frames about 5 years because it is such a hassel.  The last time I went back about twenty times because I could not see properly out of the new glasses and finally had to choose another frame to make things work better.  I settled for a pair I didn't really like, because I couldn't stand the headaches and dizzyness and no solutions.  It always takes a good two weeks to get my new glasses because I have to get the three visions in one and tinting and making SUPER-thick glasses Thin.  Costs a bundle and takes forever.  SOMEDAY I really, really, really want to have laser eye surgery and SEE!  :-)

Auntie Isabel called last night.  Nick Russo has died.  This guy has been SO sick for At Least Three Years.  In bed, can't function sick.  When we all visited him about a month ago, he was completely out of it.  He didn't know any of us.  Not even his wife, Louise.  He grew up on same street with dad and Uncle Joe in West Oakland.  They have been friends all of their lives.  This one really hurts the guys, but they are so happy to see the suffering is over.  Not sure if we are going to the funeral in Alameda on Tuesday.  I am So Sick of funerals.  But, if the boys want to go, I know that I will drive them.  Just don't want to think about it right now.

11:30pm  Long story short.  Good news!  My eyes are a Little Bit Better!  Eye doctor also adjusted my reading vision.  She thinks it will help, so that I won't always have to take my glasses off for reading.  She says that now I will be able to keep my glasses on for reading.  The gal who was helping me pick out new glasses broke off my nose pad.  Monday, I have to go to an office in downtown Hayward and have it welded back on.  Ugh!  We picked out a pair of glasses that is back-ordered, and everything continued to go downhill.

THEN - I went to Lenscrafter and had a SPLENDID experience.  Lots of help.  Plus, they take a picture of you in each pair of glasses so you can see which one you like best.  And another person comes over and helps with a second opinion. And, they measure you with the computer to - hopefully - get your progressives at the right locations on the glasses.  I still have to wait two weeks and pay a Fortune - $548.00 - but, my glasses always cost too much, which is why I like to get them as seldom as possible.

Cousin Debbie called at 1:00pm.  She, Krissy & kids; Kim & kids; and Deaunn were at the restaurant.  They came the wrong day!  Oiy!  Debbie says she is coming back tomorrow with the rest of the family.  Not sure about the others.  I sent every single person a reminder email about 10 days ago - Emphasizing SUNDAY - and No One read it.  Se La Vie!

Have been trying to repair my Hydra Brush electric tooth brush.  Not looking too good.  Think I am going to have to break down and get a new one.  I've kept this one working a long time, so guess it's time.  Of course, everything happens at the same time.

This has been a busy and a good day.  Hey!  I took a piece of raw chicken with a little water, salt and pepper and cooked in my Orka for 7 minutes in the microwave.  It came out Really Good!  Have some more chicken.  Can't wait to try it again.

Friday, July 6, 2012

You sparkle.

Went grocery shopping at 8:30 this morning.  First made quinoa in my Orka steamer in the microwave;  then made bacon and eggs in it.  Everything went down the garbarge disposal.  lol  Hmmm  try try again another day.  Also, made a green salad and guacamole, which both turned out great.  Then I went to the movies and saw "Katy Perry Part of Me".  I loved it.  Dad went for a long drive with Bill after exercise all the way to Brentwood.  His back really hurt and they had to stop and get out of the car several times.  Yes, dad did "not" take his pain pills.  He is so convinced he can do it without them.  Gets in trouble every time.  He blamed it all Bill for taking the back roads.  Ha ha.  Bill "always" takes the back roads and dad Loves It - when he has taken his pain pill.  Just don't try to convince him of that.  lol  God Bless.  That's what keeps him young and going at 87.  Honestly, every day this last few months has been relaxed, fun, and pleasant.  One day at a time.  Relax and go with the flow.  Just enjoying these days of being so spoiled.  It's not normal, but it is wonderful.

ORKA STEAM - QVC K-16176 - RECIPES

I love my Orka and have had it for a couple of years.  But, I always forget ideas of what to cook in it and now want to write down a few suggestions after just seeing it shown again on QVC.

1.  Raw chicken and vegetables (tomatoes) or other.  Time:  5 minutes.

2.  Shrimp & sliced bell peppers.

3.  Asparagus or ear of corn.

4.  Greens?  I hope so.  I can't wait to try this.  I think it will be perfect.  Just use water.  Wash greens well.  Cut off all stems.  Add garlic salt and oregano.

5.  Omelette w/bacon.  4 eggs - 7 1/2 minutes

Dad and I had lunch today with Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel at Union Landing's IHOP.   Lots of fun.

WEIGHTS & MEASURES  510-268-7343

Alameda County Weights & Measures - 510-268-7343
How often do you go to a store with one advertised price - and they ring you up at the register at a Higher Price?  Yes - it happens All The Time!  I get so frustrated, because they honestly just do not care.  Good News!  Now I have an official telephone number and department to report this.  And believe me, I have the time right now, I am going to.  lol  Fun Fun Fun  Now, if I could figure out the best way to deal with all the BAD produce I buy, and don't discover it is bad until I get home - watermelon, apples, avacados and more!  I want to eat produce so much - but finding decent produce has become almost impossible.

Last night I gently scratched with an emery board a mole and soaked a small piece of cotton with Apple Cider Vinegar to the small mole on my arm.  Surrounded the outer edge with vaseline and placed paper tape to hold the cotton ball all night.  I have several small moles and understand that I can remove them.  This is a fun experiment.

Dad and I are going to the clubhouse today for the 4th of July BBQ.

Start Each Morning for Maximum Brain Power

How to Start each Morning?

1. 2 Glasses of water: The brain needs plenty of water to function properly, if a person is even a little dehydrated the brain can slow down. Think of this way, without enough water in the radiator of a car, the water cannot even flow. The goal here to saturate the body with enough water to allow the blood, plasma, and other fluids to move to the brain easy. The blood is how the brain brings sugar, oxygen and other nutrients needed to start the day.
2. Small Sugar Rush: This is the energy fuel of the brain, if you start out the day with some simple sugars, hopefully natural foods like raisins, apples, or oranges your brain will have a headstart. Sugars is addictive, so take great care in your sugar consumption, too much sugar in the morning and you will be crazing food all day.
3. 10 Deep Knee Bend Exercises: Do deep knee bends, this will force oxygenate blood to enter the brain. This is almost the only exercise you can do in any room on the planet.
4. Oxygen, the brain needs plenty of oxygen or brain cells will die, in number three you are to exercise, the more exercise the more it pumps oxygen into your brain.
5. Exercise the Brain: Creating or inventing is exercise for the brain, for example, if you make a long todo list in the morning, if you brainstorm it challenges the brain to work. While watching the TV, listening to music is just soothing the brain, not challenging the brain.
6. Vitamin B: Vitamin B can give your body a rush.

Tacy and Brendon McCoy

Nice day today.  Went to Jim's Hair Salon on Mission and had my hair colored and cut.  Went next door and had the best pedicure I've ever had.  I am so ticklish, it is so painful - but Steve did a great job and I was really relaxed and enjoyed it today.  Went to Health Unlimited and bought Virgin Coconut Oil, Rosewater, Almond Oil, Vitamin E Oil.  Picked up a DMV handbook and an emery board and 4 fleet enemas to practice with.  Had the flautas at the new Taqueria downstairs in the Food Court at Southland.  Went online and ordered 3 small glass jars and another 16 oz water tumbler.   Pretty fun day.

A dream is always worth one more try.

Dad and I are having lunch today with Uncle Joe and Auntie Isabel in Castro Valley at Norman's Restaurant.  We had a fun surprise.  Since cousin Tommy is not driving Jim and Sally so much now that they are in the senior nursing apartments - he joined us for lunch today.  Lots of fun.   Auntie Isabel is going for her Physical Therapy this morning.  Tomorrow, Uncle Joe goes in for his Bone Density test.  I think they are checking him for osteoporosis.  Wonderful day yesterday.  We both loved the Madea movie.  Very funny.  Then watched Tiger Woods win his golf tournament that he was hosting.  And watched the Giants baseball win.  What an exciting ending.  Bill and Sadie came over.  Bill spent the night at Kaiser for his heart murmur.  The doctor said that he could go golfing.  Hasn't scheduled his echocardiogram yet.  He is pretty grumpy and exciteable.   But glad that so far he is doing okay.  Glad they stayed only a few minutes though.  He did help us get a new bag onto our Kirby vacuum cleaner.  Sadie was really cuddly.  Then she and Luigi had a HUGE running match.  Very Funny!

Cousin Tommy's friends, Jim and Sally, are selling their house.  They have both moved into Casa Sandoval Senior Aparments over at 2nd and A Streets in Hayward because they are so sick and need so much care.  It is so sad.  They are both very young.  69 and 66.  It will cost over $6,000 each month.   That is where Maxine Lewis is - where dad and Bill just visited her last week.  Dad has always said that Casa Sandoval is his Favorite Senior housing.

Moisturizing Rose Face Masque

2 tsp. rose water
2 Tbs. almond oil
3 drops vitamin E oil
2 Tbs. honey
Mix all ingredients in bowl, apply to face and neck, let masque set for 5-10 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Note to myself to visit:  Missouri Botanical Gardens; Portland International Rose Test Gardens; Old Westbury Gardens located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York; Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley; Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, Washington; Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.

Visualize your way to Success and Happiness

Imagine taking Free Throws.  Concentrate how the ball feels in your hands and hear the sound it makes as you bounce it on the court.  Pay attention to the applauding crowd!  Simply imagining the sound of praise boosts your self-esteem.

Save for your Dream Vacation.  See your piggy bank fill up.  Every time you imagine putting extra cash aside, picture yourself depositing an individual coin in your imaginary piggy bank; the coin gives your image detail and focus.  You'll feel an immediate sense of satisfaction that will encourage more saving!

Lose 10 pounds by picturing yourself pigging out!  Imagine yourself popping M&M's or candy after candy into your mouth.  Imagining yourself repeatedly indulging in a sweet treat, you will eat  only half as much of the real thing.  Repetition is essential because it fools your brain into believing you've had enough!  "Feel the food on your tongue - the texture, the taste".  Imagine swallowing:  It will make your visualization feel more real - just as real as your curbed appetite!

Reach for your dreams.

This morning dad and I are going to the movies to see "Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection".
